By now you may have heard the word ‘Pantone’ floating around the Pinterest world and you may have even heard that there is a Pantone Colour Of The Year. If you are anything like me, the first time you heard about this you may have asked yourself “Is Pantone a colour?”.
Here is a little bit more background as to what Pantone is:
Pantone is a standardized colour matching system using a numbering system for identifying colours. By standardizing the numbers, different manufacturers or designers in different locations can use the same colour for a project without having to come into contact with one another. Without going into too much detail, each colour has a code which is used to identify that particular colour.
The Colour Of The Year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid 18-3224:
The colour is described as “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones” that “inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health.”
